Caribbean Café
Caribbean Cafe, C/. Ruperto Anduez, 11 - Nerja
tel: 95 252 8953 or 675 515 417
Simon and Katrina came to Nerja 18 months ago with several years of
five star international experience in the restaurant trade, including
6 years specifically training in Caribbean cuisine. They have worked
the prestigious Mandarin Oriental in Hyde Park, the Four Seasons in
Florida, and the Hyatt in Grand Cayman to name but a few! They felt
they were ready to go it alone, and so was born “Caribbean Café”;
and 2 days before purchase so too was born their first child -Anya!
With them came their 2 parrots, now residents in the bar - who provide
hours of fun. Being a family themselves, they realised the importance
of creating a child friendly, quality restaurant. It is perhaps the
only restaurant on the coast with baby changing facilities!!!
This menu will not be found anywhere else on the coast. Every dish is
unique, incorporating true Caribbean zest and flavours. Our favourite
appetisers on the menu include the famous coconut and rum soaked calamari
and the Jamaican gravalax of Salmon; our fave sandwiches must be the
Jerk Chicken and Spinach wrap and the Nerja Cheese Steak sandwich, steak
topped with manchego and rum glazed onions and as for main dishes you’re
spoiled for choice!!! We love the Asian Seasoned Tuna Steak, the award
winning Caribbean spice rubbed fillet steak and the highly acclaimed
Blackened Claves liver which comes with a homemade wholegrain mustard
mash and onion jus. The bar carries a fine selection of Caribbean beers
and rums as well as cocktails and carefully selected Spanish wines.
Caribbean Café has a lovely terrace that can accommodate large
groups or big families, an ideal party venue… they would be happy
to cater for any special occasion. They are also holding a “world
flavours” event every month, highlighting Simon’s talents
in other styles of cuisine; September will be a Japanese night (NOTE:
first gourmet prepared Japanese food in Nerja!!!) Book early to avoid
disappointment.
Katrina, Simon and their parrots are open for business Tues-Sun from
early until late, make a reservation, once you’ve been you just
have to keep going back for more!
