Tierra del Fuego

Avda. Tore Tore, Edif Cordoba, Torre del Mar.
Tel: 95 254 6414

At last! A classy, elegant and exciting vegetarian restaurant here in Torre del Mar. Vegetarians are not well catered for in Spain - often the only options are omelettes or salad and if you are a vegan you may as well be an alien to your average Spanish restaurateur!! However, worry no more Tierra del Fuego is here!
The restaurant is calm and tranquil, with soft music playing in the background and some stunning original artwork hung on the walls. The terrace is spacious yet they have still captured the warmth and friendliness of the restaurant inside by having all the tables candlelit and dressed with crisp red and blue linen. Courteous and attentive staff wait your table making your dining experience both pleasurable and effortless!

Many of us are under the assumption that vegetarian food is bland or sometimes even at a push just healthy, however when vivacious and imaginative chefs and the freshest organic ingredients are involved it is truly quite the opposite!! The menu at Tierra del Fuego is both innovative and contemporary including many dishes that would tantalise the taste buds of even the most hard core carnivores amongst us! For instance, Filo parcels filled with ‘Spinach, Pine nuts and Raisins’; ‘Vichyssoise’, a refreshing chilled leek and potato soup or a ‘Roasted Tomato Salad’ are a selection of the starters on the menu. Moving to mains you may want to try the ‘Red Onion and Goats Cheese Tarts’ served with a medley of fresh vegetables or maybe the ‘Parcels of Aubergine’ filled with spinach, pine puts, sun-dried tomatoes and goats cheese served on a tomato and caper sauce or the ‘Asian Pasta’ served with a green salad. There are also freshly baked herb bread rolls to accompany your meal served with avocado butter or an olive tapenade. We sampled some of the above dishes on our visit to Tierra del Fuego; all were exquisitely balanced, full of flavour and with a presentation that made you want the food to just leap into your mouth! The desserts at Tierra del Fuego have to get a special mention! The New Zealand head chef uses the freshest organic seasonal fruits, the richest of chocolates and the tastiest homemade yoghurts and parfaits. We only left enough room to share a dessert but on our next visit we have decided to order pudding first as the Chocolate Torte and the Pear Tart look to die for!

It is not only the food that is organic at Tierra del Fuego; they also carry several organic wines. These bottles feature among an impressive selection including wines from Chile, Australia and Spain; note to the wine connoisseurs among us, the famous aussie Lindemanns Bin 65 Chardonnay is available!!! At Tierra del Fuego your meal is always finished with a complementary glass of crisp cava, a lovely and welcome touch by the owners Paul and Julia.
Julia and Paul welcome everyone to Tierra del Fuego on Avenida Toré Toré any day of the week for a taste extravaganza like you have never sampled before here in Spain so go along and be let your taste buds be tantalised!
